Hunter’s Iron Works is the birthplace of America’s defense industry and the site of the largest industrial iron and gun manufacturing complex in 18th-century North America. We are actively preserving this historic site and providing interpretive experiences to highlight James Hunter's pivotal innovations, the contributions of his diverse workforce, and the extensive range of military and consumer goods Hunter's Iron Works produced.

Our ongoing efforts include researching, educating, and elevating lesser-known stories of commitment and sacrifice to secure and advance the causes of liberty and justice. We also advocate more widely for preserving historical sites, artifacts, and traditions that serve as guideposts for a deeper understanding of history and culture.​​​​​
